been playing and replaying some very nice rpgs
first, chrono trigger which might just be my favorite game of all time, pretty amazing and the apex of the 90s JRPG era, turn based combat but realtime, the steam version isnt that terrible anymore but id emulate it, then theres FFVI which is also pretty damn amazing and the only reason i value chrono trigger over it is probably because i played it when i was a kid so nostalgia is there, but its a very good game, the steam version is trash and has trash graphics, search up for mods for it, ted woolsey uncensored edition is my favorite, you can install it as the retro version as well which works pretty fine, however u lose the gba exclusive 2 dungeons but i think thats not the biggest issue ever
into the more unknown stuff, theres exanima, which is not complete but has a unique combat system that is very very nice and is pretty damn hardcore of a game but i did "beat it" (it has no ending but i beat all enemies in all areas)
for our flash dudes theres the MARDEK series which is pretty amazing, released on steam where u get some bonus stuff but u can play it for free on flash websites, pretty much like FFVI and similar games, turn combat and all, pixelart for the majority of the game, i actually prefer the combat in it over FFVI, its pretty nice, however it only has 3 chapters and 8 were planned, im planning on continuing this game in my free time, since it has a ton of potential
and im currently playing divintiy original sin 2 with a buddy of mine, very nice, long and interesting game, turn based combat in the style of the rpgs from the 2000s like baldurs gate 2 but modern so it is a very interesting experience, playing with friends is always cool as well
