How should we deal with guests?

Postby Varoid37 » 18 July 2016, 01:25

Okay, so first off, guests like to call us things and say things like "Hacker camper lagger..." and various cuss words, and say words like "noob" and "kick him he kild me", ect.

Why don't we just make all of these terms like "kick" and "hacker" and "camper", when they aren't really warranted to mean slang meaning "This person doing this is handsome" or something, then call them weird?

Also, maybe we should make guests so that they're unable to kick people? Or at least unable if they've said words like noob, hacker, camper, various cuss words, ect, or make it so they have to be in a room for a certain amount of time before they can kick.

How would we handle voting when most of the people can't even vote? Simple, make it so that until they can vote, the number of votes needed to do stuff reflects what it would be if the guests weren't there. (Yes, all this includes ping limit setting, because guests might ping bomb a match)

Also, why did they change the names of guests back to just Guest-(numbers)?

Anyway, how do you all think we should deal with them?

Guests: Are not able to chat, are not able to read messages. Unable to kick as well, to set ping limits, etc.
Basically block them from using basic things and problem solved.

Guests are NOT the only people that do this!

Imagine this: a guest is screaming "noob, kill yourself" to everyone in the lobby, aight?
Now, imagine that guest makes an account.
It's still gonna be some lame dude screaming "noob, kill yourself" but with an account!

This is what I suggest we do: have a system to where ANYONE that meets a certain playing time and/or completes criteria can unlock abilities such as talking in chat, kicking people, etc.

This way, we can ensure players with a level of maturity and respect and INTEREST in PB2 can use the chat and people with common sense can use the kick button.

If you create a new account, you still must meet all this criteria in order to talk, kick, etc.
And, if you're a guest, you still must meet all this criteria in order to talk, kick, etc. and we can track this by assigning a guest account to the person's IP.

Look, there may be flaws with my suggested system, but it's merely a suggestion.

Basically this. This might push guests into making their own Accounts.
Just by limiting the power of a guest there won't be that much Toxicity.
Since I also know for a fact that there are some players who play as guests
and just goes all out toxic on players. By doing this as well will force those
players to use their accounts. Thus if any rule breaking activity happens
A Ban/Warning may be directed the the User.

met a player which is a guest then I asked him if he have an account then simply he said "I have one but does it matter?"

In either ways I think we should remove all guest powers except for joining matches

This. Having an account has no advantages now.

What can you do with an account?

--> You can write / read messages.
--> You can chat on this site
--> You can edit your name
--> You can choose your skin
--> You can play ranked matches which no one joins to.

Out of your 'rights', 2 are purely cosmetics, 2 of them are easily substitutable and the other one is useless

Now here is the major problem with this,

Not everyone can speak English, so it would be even harder for a person to join if he didn't know English

I also think Mingo's comment would be a great idea!

I don't agree. Even experienced players can be toxic and it won't do anything with them. And there are pretty friendly newbies too.

If you want this game to be less toxic then prevent guests from talking and make harsher punishments. That's the only solution.

Oh, and a -mute Player1 command would be cool too

Removing guests outright would help some in PB2.5 (Trust me, guests having power in PB2 is a nightmare because they can easily hack and get away with it) along with introducing a system like what Mango1 said.

kden.

Guests have no access over normal site features.

For more info of what guests can do, read my answer to iDomino's ''Guests'' question.

and also that what you said.

''make guests unable to kick''

I agree 100% with this.

I experienced it myself.

Note that not only guests do this.

XyZ aka the 8 year old n00b raged at me for killing him like a pro in ranked.

he says:

[sarcasm]
f@ggot

noob!

i fkd ur mom kid

how

hacker

f*cker
[/sarcasm]

so yes. I did call him an 8 year old :)

With guests.
kden.

Remove the guest feature>it's the simple as that.

I wouldn't say remove it entirely, then fewer players would be able to sample the game before going all out and getting an account, I say just limit their tools to troll people with, it should be enough.

Nah dude, there's too much at "stake" xD

Ugh, we can't be THAT harsh on guests, I mean, if we get rid of all of them then we'll never be able to fill up 7vs1 matches and stuff enough, guests provide the raw firepower needed for a lot of those maps, they may not be good, but they can still run after the jug and spam assault rifle. lol

As previous people said, I think we should limit guests' powers even further than it is now

I agree with you, due to guests being so annoying this days and must be learn how to be formal, I really getting tired of "Hacker, lagger" and sometimes an insult and rude words, for what ? for being a Pro or skilled, everything has it's price, man, and I agree with rest of people here, let's make guest abilities limited and under control.

I find it funny you all have somethings against guest. C'mon leave them poor souls alone. They don't know any better because, there the term "dumb and immature fools." Just simply mute the chat to ignore them. But in my case, I find them enjoyable around because, of there lack of stupidity it makes them funny. Like when they use the defi in a circle. XD
