Guest naming system changed

Postby wreak » 15 February 2016, 06:58

What do you have in mind about it?
I find it to be one of the best updates the game has since its now makes fake guest clans obsolete since players would be able to find out that they are already users to start with.

I think it's been over a month now since the change, why are you making this post now? Also, it just gives them a temporary name which doesn't change anything, they are still guests. Any player with some experience can find out that they are guests, without clicking the i button while playing.

Better than plain numbers.

I generally like the feature, like others have said it makes it easier to identify the other players instead of seeing "Guest-03492" and confusing it with "Guest-04329" and I think it makes them seem more friendly like KLM said, even though it is two random words like "Glass Ruby" which I can somewhat compare to my name "Wasted Time", so overall this is a good feature Eric implemented.

I absolutely love it. No "No guests" maps anymore. Maybe they'll be named
"No random username-users which are in fact guests" in future. We'll see.

Makes it easier to distinguish between guests, as well as possibly preventing people from automatically insulting guests, (I do see this sometimes), because they may think it's a player.

It's also sort of an incentive to just make an account, because some of those guest names are pretty embarrassing.

Heh .... I guess its ok for now, though I do see some people say that most of the guests names just get 'Weirder' and 'More Stupid' by day, its sort of true. But in other words, its better than seeing random guest numbers all over the place

I actually just noticed this the other day because I haven't been on in forever. (Mostly due to being busy and my laptop doesn't work like it used to.) Anyways I logged in as a guest and noticed my name was Tomato Garden. Yep Tomato Garden. http://prnt.sc/a4omn2

So far I like it. You can tell players apart easier. And being word names instead of just numbers they may be taken for registered accounts. Which should in theory cut down on all the guest hate since it will be slightly more difficult to tell the registered from the nonregistered.

However I can't really seeing this change make guests want to register anymore than before. But then I don't see the sense of not making an account to begin with. I can understand if you first cross this game and do a trial run in Guest mode before taking time to make the account. But why hold off any longer? You can still practice in Guest mode even if you have an account.

Personally not a fan, because I can't always tell if there's a guest in the game or a user.
who needs a PB2.5 release date, anyways?

The guest names have a general sort of structure to them, two medium-length random words with a space in the middle. They're usually things which somebody would never choose as an actual profile nickname so you can tell them apart.

Its better to have something like this Player-83721 instead, its getting annoying seeing two random names that come out of nowhere imo.

As previously stated, the problem with the old system was distinguishing between Guests, as all of their names look identical.

Exactly, now its easier to idenitfy specifc guests, for example if one of them need to be kicked due to poor behaviour.

What the people have said above, the names now seem less homogeneous.
I would also like to add that it finally makes Guests seem a little more respectable in that even if it's temporary, they have something they could go by. It almost seems kind of human to have just some random [adjective] + [noun] instead of Guest-[random number].
