Most Over- and Underrated Guns in PB2

This is a game where guns aren't created equal (thank, god!) and therefore some of them are stronger, others are weaker. Some look pretty while others don't have the best design.

So based on these facts, my question is simple: what are, in your opinion the most over- and underrated weapons in PB2? The Glock and M4A1 don't count, because they don't really belong to this era.

There's a list based on my opinion:

Overrated:

#1 Sniper Rifle CS-YippeeKiYay: Everyone who has been playing this game since a few months may know how popular Sniper matches are.
They usually contain some 'hardcore' players who just learned how to self-boost and are literally flying through stryde's sniper map and shoot randomly just to get a kill - and somehow this approach works pretty well, like in a classic railwars map, but that's a different story though.

On topic: The Sniper Rifle is just the poor man's Ray Gun - unlike the latter, it doesn't reload automatically (also reloads slower), deals less damage, and has a harder time "hitting" a target (while it's more accurate, it also fires less projectiles). T
he Sniper Rifle has only 2 considerable advantages against its counterpart: the higher projectile speed and that green detector-thing. Otherwise, it's just a Ray Gun Weaker Edition.

#2 CS-BNG: This gun is especially popular among newbies, possibly thanks to its 'cool' explosive projectile type.
It's a great weapon against vehicles in SP maps or against annoying high-hp enemies, but isn't as good as most people consider it to be.
It can't penetrate any walls (it doesn't shoot bullets), has a very long reload time and in multiplayer it's a lot harder to hit a constantly moving enemy with it than with other weapons. Give me anything between slot 1-4 and I'll effortlessly beat most BNGers any day.

#3 Minigun C-02m: The weapon of the famous Noir Lime. It has an insane rate of fire, decent damage and not so good accuracy. And there lies the problem. I don't say it's a bad weapon, but most people only consider the first 2 qualities of this weapon- and think they can Rambo anyone with it, only to be disappointed later. Like the BNG, it's mostly loved by the newbies - and interestingly, the creator of a gunshop map almost always poses with a BNG or Minigun in his character's hands

I'll do the underrated ones later, as I'm really tired now.

Overrated:
Sniper: Too useless, if somebody lags its impossible to hit him, I like fast firing guns more...
(I know this gun should not be mentioned: m4a1: This gun is just **** when you shoot a lagger...)

Underrated:
Alien rifle: That gun have a damn good penetration and is effective to kill somebody through a thin wall...

Overrated: Sniper rifle, the laser makes you too vulnerable so you have to carry it on your back, but the long reload time means you have to hold it out for a while before being able to do this, if you don't get your timing right and holster the weapon just as it becomes fully charged, the laser flashes and gives you away. Aside from this I would say that this gun just doesn't fit into PB2.

Underrated: Pistol C01-P, I think that's what it's called, the small blue one with a short-range laser sight, it's incredibly accurate, does a decent amount of damage, and penetrates through thicker walls than you would expect for such a weapon.

First off, I realize that HP might be omitted from the discussion just so that the discussion is a bit more generalized, but I think HP is very important when considering the performances of guns.

Alien rifle is underrated? No, it's not. It's garbage and people think it's garbage. It has garbage damage, and therefore garbage damage per second. Alien shotgun has only a couple degrees less accuracy but more than 50% more damage. Alien shotgun makes the alien rifle almost completely obsolete. It's only "good" in HP pools that are in the hardcore zone (>130 HP). At that point, it wouldn't matter that your damage is garbage because the HP is so low.

rayrifle is overrated? I don't think so: it has the highest damage per second in the game, is completely better than or the same as the minigun and is completely better than the C-01r both in pretty much any nameable statistic. It's adequately rated because swats people at any practical HP pool and I even consider it overpowered.

Overrated:
- Sniper Rifles. There are way too many ''stryde-sniper'' ripoffs out there as well as too many matchs with such maps.

Underrated:
- Alien Shotgun. I have only played like 2 maps at my whole time here with those weapons. Would be great if we can get more maps using those as main armory.

Overrated - Sniper, BNG

Sniper is overused in multilayer but it often fails against other weapons. The only good feature about this gun is the laser. Otherwise it is inefficient; it takes a long time to reload and you have to be holding the weapon for that whole time leaving you quite vulnerable. It's damage does not make up for its long reload time (it has a low damage per second). Both railguns are superior; if you want penetration use a faster firing weapon like the pistol or the alien rifle.

The BNG looks menacing and powerful but it is easily overpowered by weapons with a higher rate of fire. Also, it's a team killing machine and you will end up killing yourself with it quite often.

Underrated - Shotgun C-01s

The shotgun C-01s is underrated due to a combination of its small appearance and its balanced role as a shotgun. The alien shotgun is essentially a double rifle so it is used for its accuracy, and the CS-DAZ fires four shots and has the highest damage so it is used for the traditional shotgun role. This shotgun is often overlooked. However, this shotgun does about 90% of the CS-DAZ damage (181 HP vs 198 HP, 60 per bullet vs 50 per bullet); it only appears to be much weaker. It has the advantage of more damage per bullet, meaning it makes for superior headshots. It also has a tighter spread than the CS-DAZ, and reloads for you when you switch to another weapon, something the CS-DAZ does not do. The Alien Shotgun does not have the close quarters power of the other two shotguns so it isn't even worth a comparison. The Shotgun C-01s is as functional as the other two shotguns but it is frequently traded down. It's incredibly underrated.

Note I do not include weapons that perform poorly, like the alien rifle and the post CS-Pro. They are rated poorly but for good reason.

first, overrated.
5th: M4A1
thanks for the realistic and the invisible bullet, so this gun is a little overpowered.
4th: mini gun
gradelessly this gun is deserved in 4th place because of highest spaming bullet speed when used. Just spam like the camper and nobody will escape. And also the thing I need to mention, the minigun damage speed is as alike as CS rifle. So....good luck dealing with the player who's holding the mini gun.
3rd: BNG.
Big Nuke Gun (quite bad at naming by CS) is the gun that shoot neclurar bullets to them. Unlike the rocket launcher, BNG has the small radiation area that can give people final ending atk.
Take an example. The discover says we have decreased 15% chance to death when you hold X. But srly when the BNG bullet goes, bang you died.
2rd: swords.
swords is basically as known as "the highest damage but melee" type. It is seriously powerful when you guys inside the realwar. Just get near the enemy and use sword. Dang you got the kill. Mostly it is played a overrated weapons in the battle with simple 3 weapons (pistol,rifle,shotgun) inside.
1st: sniper.
Sniper is the weapon that I personally favourite. But it is overated due of the fastest bullet speed and long-long aiming system. Too many stryde-sniper (why so many people play that just because that map is the first approved map with sniper inside???)

underrated.
5th: Heavy railgun.
although it has the high damage, but thanks to the reloading speed and lag spike, not really people use them unless they need to have a distance advantage. In the realwar section, mostly people love to shoot people with rifle and shotgun or even sniper!
4th: Alien shotgun.
all right, not all of map makers love this gun but it is the best weapon in slot 3 weapons section. I tested with friends with all the shotguns but we discovered it out alien shotgun is the most easiest to aim and highest damage in long distance.
3th: grenade.
not all the players use grenade unless with the "only same weapon fight". It plays an important role when you are in simple 3 weapons war including sniper. grenade is your best friend for dealing campers. Grenade also good in use to assassin people.
2nd: drone gun
due of the approved map rules cant have drone gun, so it is not many people used in maps. Even in approved map if you use this gun to kill people, you cant get the kills. It is good in use, but you don't get a reward for this. So this gun is being useless.
1st: all kind of pistols (except alien pistol due his poor attack dmg and Glock for invisible bullets.)
either CS pistol or marine pistol, most of players wont use them unless they have no choice. pistol is more accurate than rifle actually but nowadays players just love to spam. So that's why although the pistols is famous in 2013 or early 2013, but today nobody really use them.

The weapon is easy to miss with and can bounce off walls. When being spammed, it's easy to kill yourself with. A good player can do excellent with it, but even then, if missed with, it has to do a reload each time which puts players in a vulnerable spot. It's great, but there's competitors to the weapon as well, some that don't even need reloading and deal more damage.

Most under-rated weapon:

The CS-BNG.
This has been said by me multiple times, but it's my favorite weapon in the game. With an insane blast radius and powerful shot, the CS-BNG knocks players back a dozen meters from wherever they're standing. Additionally, if a CS-BNG blast flies past someone it can even deal slight damage. I'm guessing that's because of the heat the blast emits and the sheer power of it. It's an incredibly awesome weapon with an epic design and sound as well. DEFINITELY super under-rated.

Additionally, if a CS-BNG blast flies past someone it can even deal slight damage. I'm guessing that's because of the heat the blast emits and the sheer power of it. It's an incredibly awesome weapon with an epic design and sound as well.

Its radiation but ok, and a lot of good that BNG does you when someone's got a sniper and good cover.

You could have also said Lite railgun lol

Underrated weapons for me would have to be the C-01p (packs a punch, pretty much is a slot 1 alien rifle, yet I see people using the CS-PRO and the alien pistol all the time)
The Dronegun CS-Virus is almost never used but it's a pretty good weapon even on the highest difficulties simply because the enemy you are shooting at switches to swords. Either way it is a great distraction weapon.
Oddly enough, could just be my experience, I've never really seen the Raygun C-01y get used, if players have a few different heavy weapons they just use the bng/heavy rail over it. The raygun is really good at close quarters, it's just a C-01s but super sized, plus it can shoot through walls.
Overrated would be the Minigun C-02m, its accuracy is just garbage and if you want a gun that deals somewhat high damage per shot, use the alien rifle.
The Ray rifle is also overrated, but that's because it's just overpowered, though a sniper rifle/bng/railgun shot is good at taking out a ray rifle user.
The Sniper rifle too is overrated, its laser can give you away, plus it can't reload on your back.

=Over Rated Guns=
CS-BNG-This Gun can Actually kill yourself when you move in Multiplayer[Applies to laggers like me] You can "Accidentally" Kill your Teammates in the Process and the Cooldown is Long. This is a Last Resort Weapon. Use at your Own Risk
PlazmaGun-Just like the BNG but with less Cons. This may be Spray-able. but it only is good in Open Areas without Cover.
=Under Rated Guns=
C-01P Pistol- My Personal Favorite..It has that Good Accuracy,Fire Rate and Penetration. People Don't really about the Penetrative properties of this Weapon. This weapon is very Useful in ALOT of Multiplayer Situations. I usually use this weapon all the time if i pick it up.
Defib- Iam not sure if this is considered. But Seriously this can help all the time. i dont think i need to explain why.
Lite Railguns-This is Obviously not Spray-able. But with good aim and Movements this is basically an Improvised C-01P with no Penetration.

I'd have to agree with you that the railgun is indeed overrated, though perhaps not for the reasons you've mentioned here. The railgun has somehow achieved the status of being fetishized over all other guns in PB2. It's one of the two types of maps you'll see in the ranked matches (along with snipers obviously), and the people who obsessively play railwars matches seem to actually believe that the railgun is the only weapon in PB2 that demonstrates your skill. All the other ones are impure: they're OP, weak, or spammy, but the railgun is just perfection incarnate. Only those who are good at rails are good at PB2, and the railgun is the only good gun. But honestly, it's a pretty poorly designed gun. In low-health maps, you can devastate an entire arena just by spamming the stupid thing everywhere-- its reload speed is far too fast. Its projectiles travel instantaneously and have an absurdly long range, which only encourages spamming and blind-firing. If you get face-to-face with an opponent in railwars, consider yourself lucky-- and even then, they'll probably pull some fancy boost trick over your head and snipe you, then laugh about how cool they are.

Really gonna disagree with you there. The BNG is one of the most ridiculously overpowered weapons in PB2, and everyone knows it. Huge amounts of damage per shot, coupled with a powerful splash damage, spot-on accuracy, and a decent range and reload time make the BNG the gun everyone wants to use, sometimes to the point of frustration. On any map that includes a BNG, you'll often see at least a few people ignoring every other weapon in the map and just prancing around with a BNG, leveling everyone with one-hit kills. I think everyone in the game knows how powerful the BNG is. Definitely not underrated.

It's under-rated in that barely anyone uses it.

At least in my experience for over 5 years, when the CS-BNG is placed on a map, it's ignored often and only pulled out for a kill or two.
