Why is there a colon in the Star Defenders url?

Postby wires memelord » 13 February 2022, 08:54

Why is there a colon in the star defenders url, that's followed with a 3000 or a 3001?

Is it a server port? something else? I'm just curious because not many other games do it.
However not many games have servers as individual websites.

Yes, it is a port. All websites actually have ports such as :80 and :443 but you just never see them since browsers hide them and assume since these are default for http and https protocols.

Star Defenders can basically run on any port but it us done like this to make regular website coexist with game, assuming regular website doesn't run with Node.JS but with something like PHP.
