Introducing New Format:

Starting from Season 4, level editor league developing period and registration period had been changed to new format:

  1. The new format will introduce a RGB table system, which requires map developers to complete 1 red, 1 green and 1 blue squares:
    • Red will be focused on the destination, theme or playfield.
    • Green will be focused on gameplay.
    • Blue will be focused on additional elements.
  2. Meanwhile, we will have orange squares which is for special challenges to gain points.
    • One orange squares will grant you 7 extra point max (depends how you use them well).
    • You can either take none of the challenges, or take any of them if you wish.
    • Orange challenges are focused on limiting your freedom of map making, adding stress or even have limitations on specific zone to squeeze more creativity.
  3. Doing more than 1 red, green or blue won't grant you any extra points, but grants you extra safe just in case if one of the requirment fails.

  4. Failure to do either red, green of blue requirements will reduce your extra points to:
    • complete 2/3 of RGB will divide your total requirement points to 2/3 of total points given.
    • complete 1/3 of RGB will divide your total requirement points to 1/3 of total points given.
    • and so on.
  5. Instances: I picked A3(red), C3(green) and C4(blue) to fulfil the minimum requirements, meanwhile I think my map also fulfills E2(orange) so I decided take that as extra challenge for points.

Entering The Event:
  1. This is the official level editors contest for plazma burst 2. A new thread will be made for each theme table.
  2. Starting from season 6, map developers can either submitting existing maps or start making their map based on the new updated format of themes from the 1st of the month and have approximately a whole month to submit the map.
  3. Only one submissions is allowed per person/team. If you give me more than 1 submission, I will just replace it before the deadline strikes the clock.
  4. Starting from season 4, you can build your maps with others! We are not limiting this contest to 1 creator only but in a maximum of 4 creator. If you're working with a team, we advise that you work out who is going to ultimately post the project into the contest before getting started. Gather your friends, build together!
  5. Starting from season 5, forum bbcode presentation is rocked on. Add lots of screenshots showing off your build, write something about your work, maybe write a description of your building process and in general to increase your chances of making it into the winner.
  6. Don't use anyone else's work. Enter only your own maps.
  7. Keep the submission thread clean - if you have a question, Contact me on Plazma League Server.
  8. Don't edit your map other than minor bug fixes once submission deadline is over.
  9. Starting from season 4, you had to submit the .pb2map format files to me, and I will help you upload it to another account which stores all corresponding season map contest submission for fair voting.
  10. By participating the event you are acknowledged that you are not allowed to publish the submission map on yourself until the event is over.
  11. When submitting your map, remember to follow the submissions template - this makes it much easier to determine if your map is suitable.

How to submit your maps?
Please submit in this format, and private message me through discord or forum private message with the format below:

Code: Select all
Your PB2 username
Your Discord username with tags.
Your map title
Submission requirement table code (such as A1,B3,C6)
A .pb2map file (stop giving me xml file cuz xml can crash things away and away)
A .txt file of the bbcode

Starting from season 5, The bbcode advertisement event is rolled on. We offer each participants an additional thread which they can use forum bbcode to decorate their submission advertisement, to enhance their map appearance and produced some magic which the official site map description can't provide of. (and it is counted as part of the contest points)

Multiple submissions are accepted, but we only kept the newest ones.

Examples of making a good bbcode advertisement click here.

Methods of downloading your own .pb2map file check here

Voting Period
There are 2 phases of voting:

First is the map rating. We had disabled the ability to comment through map page. Use #event-general to discuss about the submission instead. Meanwhile, we had disabled the ability to vote through map page to avoid flooding.

The only way you are able to rate maps in gameplay:
We will be using the plazma burst 2's map rating system, which you can vote the map in range of 1~5 stars in game mode (as I already disabled the comments of the map page.)

Second is the forum polling. Forum polling are focused on the best design of the thread advertisement. Just simply vote one if you love one of the submission thread much. Remember, forum polling is not for you to vote best maps, but best bbcode design.

The method to calculate those votes can refer to scoring methods.

Scoring Methods:
Starting from season 7, we will be separating the points into 4 sections:

1) Forum Polling (15%)
2) Map rating (25%)
3) Judges Scores (60%)
4) Extra Requirement (Extra)
Total would be 100% + Extra.

Forum Polling is special, it will take as your current poll divided by total polls, then multiplies by 15.
Take example, the total poll voting count is 20, A got 9 votes.
Therefore the calculation will be 9/20 * 15 = 6.75 points.

Map rating is special too. You will be multiplied with average votes and number of people rating, then compared the maximum result.
The submission which has biggest value of total points will get the full point of the section, meanwhile the others will take the difference compared with top submission.
Take example, if submission A is the highest, which get 9 points in map rating sections, he will get 25%.
Meanwhile submission B gets 7 points will get (7/9) * 25 = 19.45 points.
Then submission C gets 5 points will get (5/9) * 25 = 13.9 points instead.

Judges Scores will be taken as the mean of current number of judges scores. Simple as that.

Extra Requirement depends on how many orange boxes had you got.
Each orange boxes has a maximum of 7 depends on how well you have blend in your submissions while suffies the requirement.
the points are simply added up to other, which somehow holds the heaviest.
Meanwhile, if one failes to fulfil all RGB tables, his score will be divided by the task he current finishes.

Formula will be: {Total scores from orange challenges} * [(RGB challenges/3)].

Example: submission A gets 15 points from orange challenges, and succeed all RGB requirements. Therefore his points will be
15 * 3/3 = 15 points.
Meanwhile, submission B gets 25 points from orange challenges, but only succeed 2 of the RGB requirements. Therefore his points will be
25 * 2/3 = 16.67 points.

Total scores will be: [Forum Points + Map Rating Distribution Points + The mean of the judges points + extra requirement points].
The highest point will get 1st place.

FAQ Sections:
Q: When will results be announced?
A: After 2 months. For example, May results will be announced on July along with the next theme.

Q: What makes my map suitable to be in submission?
A: The map must obey at least 1 red, 1 green and 1 blue (total 3) criteria. It must also be given a .pb2map files, non-offensive and cannot contain any major errors that make the map unplayable.

Q: Is there extra points if I can able to follow all 25 criteria?
A: No, except the orange boxes.

Q: Tell me more about the 5x5 table and the red, blue, green and orange criteria.
A: Every theme we would have 7 orange criteria and 6 red, green and blue criteria respectively.Red is story settings, Blue is additional building which is needed to add in your map, Green is game play restrictions and Orange is Bonus challenge. One map developer must accomplished 1 red, 1 green and 1 blue criteria in order to eligible to participate to the event. Most of the time red, green and blue are big directions (such as aliens, war, city etc) meanwhile the orange criteria are often hard and challenging (such as no slot N weapons, must beatable in what difficulty, map resize restrictions). But by doing and completed more orange criteria will grant you more points at bonus section.

Q: Can I find some people to have a collab to submit the level editors event?
A: You can participate the map event through solo or cooperate mode with no more than 4 people. (Honestly I am encouraging you guys do that, as a good map consist a lot of collaborations.) Thus, please get a leader and send me the submission and specify all your members, and your team name.

Q: How is the map being judged?
A: Starting Season 5, we have to make it in 4 categories:
      i. Voting
      ii. Forum Advertisement Design
      ii. Specialist judgement
      iii. Criteria
Voting is simple enough, all of the eligible submissions will appear there, anonymously and randomized. So it could be a good idea to show off your signature details in your submissions so people would try to guess who made this map. Besides, we offer the players to guess which submissions belongs to who. And we may reward the player based on how many correct assumptions have been made.

Specialist judgement is a discussion and more professional judging towards some judges I had invited, and every month we would specify who is going to be our judges during voting period.

Criteria is simple —— If you accomplished more orange criteria, more bonus points will be given.
