Who uses the space bar to jump? The W button is a lot more convenient since it is closer to the fingers.

space is also closer to the fingers. you mainly use your thumb for it and have 2-3 fingers on a+d or asd respectively. it lets your pinky finger be able to rest right on either shift or ctrl easily in games where you need them. if you use only your index and middle fingers for a and d, you can use your ring and pinky fingers for those other 2 keys then.

Well said. But I still think the W button is more convenient and widely used. Why else would all the votes be on the W button side?

I think space has a zero gravity, it's better to stay at "W" as long as you're not floating.
