Damage type / Armor type

Each weapon, shoots a specific projectile. Sometimes bullets, sometimes charged energy bolts, rockets, etc.
So why don't we separate the type of damage they deal and type of damage we receive?

Damage types : physical (bullets, explosions) energetic (railguns, plasma gun) acid(the virus gun, alien grenade launcher made by the community) pure (basically ignores armor, such as swords, defibrillator)

Armor types : should be percentage based that protects you from a type of damage
Physical armor prevents physical damage. Energetic armor protects you from energy weapons and acid armor from acid based weapons.
We can also add knock back resistance, decreases knockback by weapons, decreases fall damage and increases getting up from the ragdoll mode (x mode) speed.

These are my ideas for now, would like to hear yours too. Thank for reading.

I think that is a great idea, cuz an heavy "soldier" should have more resistance than a lite "soldier"
Also because there are not many differences between the existing type of weapons
