Uploading your own Sound effects?

Postby maxim12 » 21 July 2016, 01:13

Please, Eric. Could you give us the possibility of uploading our own sound effects from our computer by choosing a sound file? Not only the sound effects, but the possibility of changing the combat music to our own one.

I know there are going to be Brain Dead Idiots who will upload inapproriate stuff, but it will give the map creators to create their own atmosphere to their maps. And belive me, It would be cool creating your own horror map.

toxic community 90% of them anyways, ignore him

Sound effects huh..it could be cool I guess. If a map with sound effect changes appear, they check it.

It would be cool to actually add this.
Since a creative map maker can actually make
an amazing atmosphere for story telling!
Like if your defending a specific area till death in Singleplayer
Or having a great and amazing time in some sort of techno multiplayer match
It would be fun to see how people can create their own stories/map
Although we all know that some people may abuse it due to Immaturity
But this is a cool idea to see!

Hmm sounds nice but these sounds needs to pass some examinations before approval or else it will not stop the map makers to make s*x maps

The post will only be deleted if he break some rules, free post or the author locked it by himself and from here there is not even a single rules broke here and this is not a free post.

The sound library of map editors in starcraft and Warcraft is fully owned by them yet they allow players to edit them to create creative maps. It will also work n pb2 if they implemented it

Might be creative but this could add a lot of junk to the servers.
This could also result in adding of abusive/inappropriate sounds into the library on a large scale. This will cause more disadvantages than advantages of the idea.

Then we'll need a moderator/s.

Also I'd prefer to upload various objects. Triggers, skins, weapons, decorations, textures.

Instead of having the option to upload sound files and setting up a tedious moderation process for it, why not have a sound editor where you can modify the existing sounds to your liking? This stops people from uploading inappropriate sounds directly and if there's a sound that you can't find that you want to use, you can just make it yourself with your own sound design

People can already do a lot with the existing trigger actions in PB2, so this shouldn't be entirely complex to anyone unless you have no idea what you're doing

I just noticed your account name is the name of a magazine filled with... nvm.

And I think just being able to upload sound bytes would be cool too. Like for instance, that one Godzilla map would be awesome if it had roars that echoed and stuff like that.

I likey

This would be great! The end of the last playable map in my Invasion series, as well as the epilogue, could use some themed music. You'll see why when they come out.
Ever had one of those days where everyone you meet in ranked likes you?

Yeah, me neither.

Wow sound effects
i wonder what pb2 kid map makers will do:

- hidden p*rn sounds
- jumpscares out of no where (not even in a horror map)
- etc.

If PB2 will have a better system to check maps

Now good night, israeli guy.

Please do not freepost nor attempt to annoy users. I've already warned Maxim, so I'm only warning you, The Algerian Commander.

Posts deleted.

As for the topic, here's why it won't happen:

Each custom sound would have to be stored on PB2's database. That would easily lead to stressed servers and a lack of data storage.

Copyright. It's very possible a user, or multiple, could and would use copyrighted sounds.

Rulebreaking. I really don't think I need to explain this one. There's just too many ways for this to go out of control.

I'd love to have some custom sounds, but I'm afraid it'd just be too difficult to properly control.
who needs a PB2.5 release date, anyways?
