Movable Backgrounds

Postby Dark Reaver » 17 January 2016, 21:57

Basically what the title says.
As there are numerous multiplayer-specific ideas I came up with one which heavily favors the SP maps.

I've seen lots of SP maps trying to make moving airplanes / space ships using doors just to end up with a floating nonsense. If you don't believe me, I'll PM you a few IDs even from good mapmakers.

If certain backgrounds were able to 'move' in the same way as doors, the game would be significantly improved aesthetically. Just imagine the elevators from SP maps; it'd look a lot better to have a different BG inside and outside it.

This could be implemented by creating a new 'Tool' in the Level Editor whose name indicates its function.

Any thoughts?

This would really enhance users experience when playing RP maps such as planes, boat-based etc. I'm up for this idea.

Yeah I agree with this, I can already see some amazing creative ways this could be used, especially in SAW maps, then there's the basic ways in which it would improve the aesthetics of the game, as you said, like in elevators.

Definitely +1 from me.

For roleplay mp maps ans sp maps would be very useful
you can make moving bgs with *fake* doors to look like but this is hard.

I seen this in escape the lava map, and I'm wondering how they did that.

I also think movable backgrounds would be a great addition to PB2. Thinking about it, it could help making lifts a lot easier to be honest.

This is an interesting idea. It would be cool if you where making a gondola lift and the background could move along with it.
Definitely not the real Ahrora, the real Ahrora was taken by Aliens.
