PLAZMA BURST 2: OPPOSING FORCE

Image

During the events of the Plazma Burst 2 Campaign, an important mission is taken by a Squad of Four Civil Security Soldiers, one of which is the one you take the role of. You are Clover, a silent Civil Security Lite known as a rookie among the entire forces.

The four are sent to a base to evacuate Civilians and take down a Usurpation Attack, however, your squad is overwhelmed, you manage to survive by escaping and hiding in the closest building you could find, but you are now on your own, what happens after is your playtrough in the map.

This series has a Wiki, beware of Spoilers: http://pb2stof.pbworks.com/w/page/125010147/FrontPage

The map is both for Single Player and Multiplayer Coop, but there are no sub-forums for hybrid maps. Here are links and IDs:

IDs are all OF and a number depending on the order, except level 1 whch is just OF.

Here is my feedback:
You spelled the name wrong. It is Clevor in this post, but Clover in the game. Also, when you have this gray text tip about skipping the part, there are numerous grammar errors as well. The two sentences do not tell enough, confusing the player. Did you mean to say, if the player was playing the level again, they could skip it? If so, please specify. Also, why would the player want to skip the level if it is boring? Probably increase the excitement of the gameplay. However, I like the map design and structure. But the civil security don't use names like that. You could do well with a name like "CS-Lite #66". Civil security lites also do NOT have 500 hp, so if you want this game to stay similar to the campaign you should lower his health. :O
http://prntscr.com/evl6b3 The cs-corvette doesn't have the rocket launcher. It appears you forgot to make a trigger
and timer or you forgot to link it to the gun allowing it for vehicles.
http://prntscr.com/evl5p3 ?!?! What is this ?
http://prntscr.com/evl5xn Structure somehow changes and the falkok has a raygun?
http://prntscr.com/evl6o8 What does this do?
Grubs don't appear in the campaign, maybe you should explain what the meaning of this is.
It is an okay map, I'd give it 2 stars out of 5 stars, because of the glitches and storyline errors, but I won't rate just yet.
Please rate my maps 5. I work very hard on them.

Thanks for the feedback! It means a lot to me, forgive for everything though, I haven't map maked in a while and this is my first actual attempt at a Single Player series.

Fixed description & Thread.

It's actually skip places without enemies or interactivity, but I have removed it now.

stormforce wrote:Probably increase the excitement of the gameplay.

I will try, I'm still experimenting but I'm pretty sure I can manage, I'd wait for some more feedback before adding the second part though.

Thanks, but I'd like to add names since you're playing as a Civil Security, it is possible that you get to know who people are in the forces (obviously including yourself), while it's true that the Civil Security Lites don't have 500 HP, Protagonists do.

stormforce wrote:http://prntscr.com/evl6b3 The cs-corvette doesn't have the rocket launcher.

That should be fixed now.

stormforce wrote:http://prntscr.com/evl5p3 ?!?! What is this ?
Supossed to make a decoration of a dead CS, but seems like the Plazma Burst 2 physics have got in the way, I can't fix that, so I have moved him.

stormforce wrote:http://prntscr.com/evl5xn Structure somehow changes and the falkok has a raygun?

Not an error.

stormforce wrote:http://prntscr.com/evl6o8 What does this do?

Added an explanation.

stormforce wrote:Grubs don't appear in the campaign, maybe you should explain what the meaning of this is.

Of course I will, but not now.

I'm always up for receiving more feedback, and to be honest, I don't want 5 stars all the time, I want honest rates, that way I can learn how to improve and know what I did wrong, this of course doesn't apply to rage votes and 1 star votes that don't specify anything. Still, thanks for being honest with me and thanks again for the feedback, I appreciate it a lot.

Correction Nine project did take place in the past (before PB:FttP) so some of it's technologies were used after project was closed. This includes the Falkoks and, plausibly, other groups of soldiers including the Grubs. I honestly don't know why you can't pick them up, though :v)

About the map itself, I don't feel like I have enough to actually give a rating. The combat was simple and there wasn't a story to be told. I can't know the context about everything, even though you said it is supposed to go with the lore.

For example: a CS Lite can kill many Grubs and Falkoks carrying a Ray Gun, so is he actually known by other soldiers to be a really good shot? He was only armed with a pistol as opposed to a pistol and a rifle like the soldiers at the first campaign mission. Was he in a rush and didn't have time to equip himself properly or something? The drone is actually pretty tough for some unknown reason. Is that a special drone model? Why was it deployed there?

I can't really say "oh, this is wrong and this is right". There isn't an explanation yet, and we don't know IF it will have an explanation at all. So I'll refrain from rating this one until there are more maps or if this one gets updated.

Map was finished about 2 hours ago. What you guys played was simply a demo. I took a lot of time, so sorry about that.

I hate to triple post, but I wanted to say Update 3 Hotfix 9 is released already for Part 1. Additions are a Cooperative Mode along with more detail into the map.

If a staff sees this, please, don't delete my post. I know you guys are against multi-posting, but in a forum where users active per moment are barely 3 most of the time, it barely gets replies, thus it's hard not to. There shouldn't be a rule of "post a lot and don't multi-post or get deleted", specifically in an inactive forum.

Really, it hurts me to say this, but I don't care about post count, neither you guys should care about it. It's a worthless number, punish the people who spam and break the rules, but don't put other users at fault because of them.

I shouldn't be saying that here, but it has happened in a map thread of mine before, and I despise it, because after it's done, the thread is no longer bumped, my update is way less noticeable, and it results in less attention to the now possible attention a map can get. Which unmotivates me.

If anything, the rules shouldn't be a wall of text. This is a game where we can mutilate human bodies to pieces with radiactive explosive guns as they bleed, yet, we get punished for topics probably way less morbid than that (If not now, then before.) I've seen places where the rules basically are "Don't be a jerk." and that's it, simple, but it works, with an active community, even in forums non-official to certain topics or not centered around a topic at all.

I hope if a staff sees this takes my rant into consideration.

This is an awesome map!!!
The only not so good thing are the positions of the air generators.
Too I have one request:In my map campaign A Usurpation Mission Grubs are... Warning! Spoilers to not published maps!

...Humans that were Biologically modified by the Falkonians and now work for them. Can you make your campaign interact with mine that way? Grubs werealready working for the Falkonians so I wouldn't be so hard.
Work it harder
Make it better
Do it faster
Makes us stronger
More than ever hour
After our work is never over

Part 2 is out after a long time of checking details, plotting but mostly a lot of laziness and lack of interest.

Got to playtest it right now due to computer problems.

Hotfix 1 is out.

Spoiler: Show More
  • Fixed a bunch of dialogue the blue CS was supposed to say if you got to the areas they need him to be at not displaying due to the wrong trigger action being used for them.
  • Fixed the end-level having reversed pushers and an immobile enemy.
  • Expanded a bit the teleporter region for the usurper at the small lower room and the usurper with a wall covering him from above now has two pushers with arrows to help you if you have trouble getting out as an inexperienced player.
  • A bit more cover where the blue CS is.
  • Level 1 and 2 now have a start-text that say Level number and name.
  • The pusher in the car area is stronger in MP only due to lack of cars (5 from 3 power) however it's always non-existant in SP.
  • Radio dialogue is easier to read.

The displacer is the best weapon in opposing force IMO.

Hotfix 2 for OF2 is out.
Spoiler: Show More
  • Fixed CS teleporter being usable even when he died.
  • Fixed CS dialogue refering to the car path as it in multiplayer since there are no vehicles there.
  • Snowdrop now gets his weapons in his spawn so new players don't think they're unarmed.
  • Fixed Usurper Outer Teleporter being usable and acting up while at it.

I'm on level two, and I love this map so far! The starting level is great. I love how the "Terrain" so to say, is abstract and interesting, the enemy placement is good, and the aesthetic is beautiful. You should try to make a map creation tutorial. I haven't found any tutorials, except for Reject's, which, don't get me wrong, there's a lot of helpful information, but it doesn't really go into stuff like enemy placement.

Hey, thanks! But I don't know how to express myself into a tutorial, but I'll keep it mind.

The map is great, awesome, and the design is excellent.

But about one thing. Why are the Lite Railgun, Assault Rifle C-01r, and Ray Gun unknown to the player? It has been introduced being wielded by the CS in the early and late levels of the Campaign.
